West Coast Sailing Jumps Aboard

Sailish.com is totally proud and very grateful that West Coast Sailing has signed on as a sponsor. I know West Coast Sailing as a customer, sailor and supporter of Laser and all small-boat sailing in the region. And believe me, supporting Lasers is no small task these days. Their boundless energy and focus have put more butts in boats than can be counted. They know that what’s good for sailing is good for business. West Coast Sailing works closely with community sailing centers in the area to get kids (and adults) on the water.

You’ll see the West Coast Sailing logo proudly displayed on sailish.com, and that will of course be linked to their site. If you don’t know already, WCS deals in RS Sailing boats, Laser (or is it ILCA??) Hobie, Weta and others. They’re also experts in parts, clothing and assorted gear. Check them out.

This is good incentive for sailish to make sure we get the small boat scene covered properly. Any of you small boat sailors who want to contribute, please do! Racing, sailing, programs. Whatever will further our sport and make it accessible to more people.

With that said, alert reader Nate Creitz pointed out this video on the RS Feva (his son Dieter and crew Conrad Miller gave the British kids a good run for their money a couple years ago at Worlds). Alert reader Mike Johnson pointed out that the video creator was note cited – so we’ll take care of it. It’s Charles Dasher and his website is https://www.dasherfilms.com/.

Sailish Life Support

Sailish Life Support

Dear Sailish Readers,

I’ll make this short. This site needs your financial support. Without that support the site cannot continue as it has been. I’m trying to maintain it with a combination of broad-based corporate and reader donations. An advertising model would completely change the character of the site (think many flashing ads and mostly regurgitated national stories), and a subscription model doesn’t seem feasible.

Please log into my Patreon account (click onto the big “Support Sailish” block to your right) and sign up for a monthly donation of 3, 5 or $7. Perhaps it will also motivate the marine industry to follow suit with more meaningful sponsorship.

I’d like Sailish.com to continue providing regional sailing coverage and support for our youth and community sailing programs. Thanks to those who have already stepped up.

Support sailish.com – Let’s keep it Rolling

I just put together the sailish.com Patreon site. If you’re not familiar with Patreon, it’s a simple online way for creators to fund their projects. You check out my presentation, then you can choose to do a monthly contribution by setting up a “patron” account and picking a level. It’s open to both individuals and corporate sponsors – my thought is that both appreciate and benefit from the site and will want to contribute. I’ve set up several modest levels from which to choose. Of course you can stop the monthly contributions whenever you want.

In the two+ years since I pushed the “publish” button, sailish.com has attracted a remarkable, engaged readership. So many of you have contributed photos and stories! And it’s been a labor of love for me – promoting sailing in the PNW is really my passion. It’s time to take sailish to the next level.

My intention is to keep posting and expanding sailish.com without resorting to conventional advertising or a subscription model, but I’ll need help. I want to spend my energy on generating content you find relevant and promoting the sport. With support I’ll be able to develop sailish into an even more useful site for PNW sailors and, hopefully, get more folks on the water. There’s a huge potential for features (more each day) that we can integrate into the site.

After the energy I felt last year’s survey responses and the growing excitement I feel around the youth scene, I’m optimistic that PNW sailing will continue to grow and give our community the kind of amazing experiences only sailing can provide. I’ll do what I can to push that process.

Thanks for your help. Click here to help. And please pass this along.
